By making smart usage of profiles and authorizations in DST, you maintain control over your data, support your commercial strategy, and collaborate more efficiently with retailers.
What are profiles?
A profile is a bundle of data that you, as a supplier, compile. This can be done in two ways:
- A group of products: for example, a selection of bicycles, parts, or accessories that you want to bring to market.
- A group of retailers: for example, all retailers in a specific area or only your selected points of sale.
Profiles make it possible to handle data in a smart and targeted manner.
Types of profiles
Within DST, there are two types of profiles that you can utilize:
Public profiles
- These profiles are visible to all retailers.
- Useful when you want to make your entire range widely available in the market.
Profiles based on authorization
- Only retailers that you explicitly authorize will be granted access to this data.
- Ideal for selective distribution, where you maintain control over who is permitted to sell your products.
Step-by-step plan: authorizing retailers
Authorizing data via DST can be done in two ways: via profiles or via customers. Below, we explain step-by-step how this works.
1. Authorizing via profiles
- Go to the Supplier page in the DST platform.
- Scroll down the page and click Edit on the desired profile.
- Search for the retailer you wish to authorize.
- Click Authorize next to the retailer's name.
This allows you to easily add retailers to a profile and manage access to your data yourself.
2. Authorizing via customers
- Go to the Customers page in the DST platform.
- Search for the retailer you wish to authorize.
- Click Details next to the retailer's name.
- Select the desired profile and click Authorize.
In this way, you can determine which profiles each retailer is granted access to.
What does this mean for you as a supplier?
With authorization, you set the rules for your data. You benefit from:
- Flexibility: share widely or selectively, depending on your distribution strategy.
- Control: you determine which retailers get access to which product information.
- Efficiency: thanks to the profiles, you work faster and prevent misunderstandings.
This ensures your data remains not only up-to-date but also fully aligned with your commercial strategy.
